Cover: Resonance Records' forthcoming release will extend the legacy of saxophonist and DownBeat Hall of Fame inductee Eric Dolphy (1928-'64). Musical Prophet: The Expanded 1963 New York Studio Sessions contains the first official previously unissued studio recordings by Dolphy in more than 30 years. The three-disc set includes the original programs for the albums Conversations and Iron Man, along with 85 minutes of previously unreleased music. Dolphy's collaborators on the sessions included trumpeter Woody Shaw, vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson and bassist Richard Davis. DownBeat will examine the career of a legendary artist who died tragically at a young age.
